About AMA

Assunnah Muslims Association (AMA) is a non-profit, registered charity with the vision to inspire a spiritual and caring community.

The mission of AMA is to create a welcoming community for all through education, awareness, community engagement and the promotion of diversity and equity. AMA was registered in 2004. It has two arms in Ottawa: Masjid Ar-Rahmah (Mosque of Mercy) and Sawmill Creek Social Services (SCSS), formerly known as AMA Community Centre.

Masjid Ar-Rahmah promotes spiritual development whereas the SCSS Centre helps AMA in investing resources where they are needed the most: in our youth, isolated seniors and women, and building local communities and neighbourhoods together.

Thanks to Our Volunteers

A total of 200+ volunteers give AMA their time, energy and expertise, supporting our work in many different ways. They helped with everything from board leadership, leading our volunteer committees to ensuring that our special events from Ramadan to the two Eid celebrations ran smoothly.

From meeting spiritual, education and other urgent needs of our community members to building a community spirit, to going even further and planning to improving long-term social conditions in the most disadvantaged neighbourhoods, AMA strives to serve people across our community.

Our Board of Directors include Jalil Marhnouj, Mohamed Hagi-Aden, Munir Shalghum, Sameh Ayoub, Abdel-Mohsin Idris, and Abdirizak Abdi.

Advancing the Common Good
